For our first assignment you will create a small Unity game that focuses on a simple mechanic. You will create the game through following an online tutorial.

“Juicing” Your Unity Game

In this assignment you will be creating your first original game in Unity and creating a one-page design that details your creation. You will watch the influential “Juice it or Lose it” lecture and “Juice” a game to make it your own.

Level Design

This assignment challenges you to expand an existing game by improving its level design. Additionally, you will learn how to use 3D models and character controllers. We recommend starting this assignment early and dividing work between team members.

In this assignment you will develop an original game with a defined visual language that uses a carefully crafted user interface to guide the player through the experience.

In this assignment you will learn how to create your first shaders in Unity. Then you design and implement an original shader for use in your team project.

Sound Design

Audio is usually one of the last stages of game production. It serves as a sort of glue that sinks into the seams between your game’s pieces and connects everything together. This assignment will challenge you to create one or more sounds for your game as you finish development and continue polishing.

Shipping & Marketing Your Game!

It’s time to ship your game! After two weeks of development you now have a small prototype to upload for people to begin downloading. This week we will be uploading your game to an online storefront in addition to creating a trailer for your game.

Final Project

After your midterm your team has worked hard on developing your game to its current state. You’ve collected feedback from friends and classmates on how to make the game better; and you have incorporated those improvements, with ample juice, into your final project. Your final assignment is to update your game for its final version!
