Course Grading
BIOE 196 / CS 544:
Students are required to attend at least 8 of the 10 lectures in person to pass the course. For each class missed (at most two), students must watch the lecture and submit a paragraph describing important insights they gained from the speaker. Paragraphs should be submitted within seven days following the missed lecture. Grading is pass/fail.
CS 146:
20% - Attendance
Each unexcused absence results in a 1% deduction from your final grade
30% - Weekly Assignments
Each assignment (other than the prototype below) is weighted equally. Grades will be determined by the following bucket system:
Students should aim for a Gold score on each submission. A Silver is earned when a student gives the minimum effort to satisfy the assignment criteria or does not meet one of the grading criteria, such as submitting a game with no goal or win condition.
Assignments that are late but are received before our Thursday class will only be able to earn at most Silver.
Assignments that are received within 24 hours after the specified due date time will only be able to earn at most Bronze.
Assignments that are received within 24-48 hours after the specified due date time will only be able to earn at most Half-Credit.
Assignments that are received beyond 48 hours after the specified due date time will earn No points.
